This is a short memo.
Known: Earlier this week, the leader/founder of Hamas declared a Global Jihad.
Points worthy of consideration:
1. If this were called a week ago, it would have had little significance. That is in our favor, because it means there's not a long-standing relationship between the individual and world influence.
2. The United States is both porous, and diverse. There are concerns about sleeper cells and street demonstrations escalating to violence. Sleeper cells are less likely, considering the amount of interdependence they would require, but the threat is not 0. The greater concern is protests/street demonstrations against Israel turn to violence in American streets.
Before today, the risk assessment was moderate at the highest, depending on region/city/location.
New information: Israel has just declared that the 1 million people in Gaza have 24 hours to evacuate. Regardless of the likelihood of this being achieved, it is an escalation.
That escalation might take place on American soil.
